Our proposed model of high salt-induced insulin resistance in Dahl S rats depends on the combined contributions of high salt and genetic defects along the insulin signaling and inflammatory pathways, which in turn predispose Dahl S rats to an augmented inflammatory response and overt insulin resistance.
